I spent a great three days at Scotland’s Trade Fair in Glasgow showing my textiles as part of the new Craft Gallery, organised through Craft Scotland.
The Craft Gallery was a curated selection of handmade Scottish craft. Here are my four top picks:
First up is jewellery by Aubeebop, Aubin Stewart. I loved Aubin’s playful style, really striking and individual.
Fraser Knitwear, based in the Shetland Isles, make soft, luxury scarves using the classic Fair Isle pattern. A great contemporary feel to these beautiful textile pieces.
Kathryn Williamson uses found objects to create her silver jewellery. She carefully selects fragments of pottery, found objects and ceramics to create each piece. I loved Kathryn’s subtle colourways.
Tom Hopkins Gibson is a woodturner and ceramicist who has created a beautiful blend of the two crafts. His ceramic collection is colourful and fun, and he cleverly casts his pieces using the grain of various types of wood.
