The major art installation, ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red‘, was produced to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. Artists Paul Cummins and Tom Piper created 888,246 ceramic poppies to fill the Tower of London’s moat between July to November 2014. I had the pleasure of framing a small selection of these ceramic poppies.
I built deep box frames to host these delicate poppies, which sit on individual shelves. The soft white mountboard is carried throughout the whole frame, including covering the shelves, and the added thin red mount highlights the colour of the bright poppies.
