Framing an exhibition – ‘Untamed’ by Fiona Mackenzie

Fiona Mackenzie custom framing

I work with a lot of artist clients and frame a wide range of pieces. Sometimes I will know where the framed work is heading (whether a gallery or a private purchase) but other times I may frame a single piece in isolation, or create a frame for a piece which has no defined destination yet.

Gairloch based artist Fiona Mackenzie has an exhibition currently showing at Gairloch Heritage Museum (1st July – 5th August). I have been working with Fiona over the last few months to frame a body of work for this particular exhibition. It’s been a really interesting project to work on as Fiona has been creating artwork for her ‘Untamed’ exhibition, Fiona’s response to the Sorley Maclean poem ‘Hallaig’. It’s a showcase of untamed, dramatic illustrations depicting the wild environment around us. Fiona’s work harks back to the connections she feels with the land thanks to her family’s crofting past and the inheritance passed down to her through stories and treasured objects.

Fiona and I spent a lot of time discussing the work as a series, how the pieces would display together and how this would inform the framing decisions made. It’s a real joy to be able to show these images of her exhibition, taken by Gairloch photographer Adrian Hollister.

Whether a single piece of artwork, or a whole exhibition, there’s a bespoke framing solution available to suit your needs. Please get in touch to arrange a framing consultation.
