Frames artwork on gallery walls

I’ve got a new exhibition hanging at Love from Skye in Broadford, Isle of Skye. The display shows a little bit of everything that I do in my studio (Emma Noble Creates) – Prints, Frames and Designs. It’s the first time that I’ve shown everything together like this and I think the display works really well.

Love from Skye are great at supporting local businesses, and as I do a lot of work for local artists and small businesses, then it’s the perfect place to showcase some examples.

I love a bit of variety and work under the banner of Emma Noble Creates for all of my printing, framing and design work.

Prints

I studied Printmaking at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen where I spent four years learning printmaking skills and exploring lots of ideas. I love to work with print techniques and am quite experimental with my approach. I create mixed-media fine art prints inspired by places that I have visited. I love the shapes, textures and colours of architecture, and the way nature weathers these man-made buildings.

After several years of working on paper, board, and other flat surfaces, I took some training to expand my skills to work with textiles. I now create luxury hand-dyed and hand printed silk accessories. Working with silk has allowed me to create objects that are tactile and 3D and can be wrapped/tied in a variety of ways to show different areas of the printed fabric.

Frames

After I graduated from art school in Aberdeen, and moved back home to Kyle of Lochalsh, I really struggled to find a picture framer to frame my own artwork. I decided to take a course to learn how to frame for myself and this led to me beginning to take on framing work for other artists.

Several years, lots of practise making my own frames, and some specialist courses later, I now provide framing services for artworks and objects. I love to work with other artists and find the perfect framing solution for their individual artworks. I can also create frames for objects and memorabilia so that special objects and memories can be displayed and preserved.

Designs

I worked for several years as a graphic designer for local print company Strath Print on the Isle of Skye before taking the leap to go fully self-employed. I now provide graphic design services for small, local businesses. I really enjoying working with others to create logos and branding styles that show off their business or products to the best potential.

We have some amazing small businesses in the area and it’s really nice to work together and help each other, and I use local suppliers where possible for all of my printing/signage. I offer professional design services and help others to create a unique look that they can be proud of.
